3rd AGM of Kirat Rai Yayokhha, UK

The third annual general meeting of the Kirat Rai Yayokhha (KRY) UK has concluded calling for greater participation of the indigenous communities in all spheres of life in Nepal.

Addressing the meeting, held at Farnborough on Saturday, chairman of the KRY UK, Bhim Rai, said there was a need to end the centuries old discrimination against indigenous communities in Nepal. He said equal opportunities must be given to the indigenous communities in the country including access to economic opportunities.

Vice chairman of KRY UK, Ramdhan Rai, said it was a matter of great satisfaction that despite having different dialects, members of the Kirat community were being united and coming under the same umbrella.

Treasurer of the KRY UK, Damber Rai, and Chandra Rai, presented the details of income and expenditure of the organization. They said a plan was underway to construct a Yayokhha community building at the cost of around Rs 15 million in the Kathmandu valley and called upon all to support the initiative. A donation drive is already underway in the UK and Nepal, according to the office bearers.

Senior members of the KRY community from different parts of the UK including Shanker Rai, Shiva Rai, Gajendra Rai and Chandra Rai were present in the meeting. They stressed on the need to work towards protecting and promoting language, religion and culture of the Kirat community and strengthen unity and understanding among various Nepalese communities in the United Kingdom.

Secretary of the KRY UK, Damber Rai, thanked all the members for their active participation and sought their suggestions to further develop the organization in future.

यायोक्खा यू. के. को तेश्रो वाषिर्क साधारण सभा सम्पन्न

फार्नवोरो । ८ डिसेम्बर २००७ शनिवारका दिन किराँत राइ यायोक्खा यू के को तेश्रो वाषिर्क साधारण सभा सम्पन्न भयो । यायोक्खा यू के का अद्यक्ष श्री भीम राइको अद्यक्षतामा सम्पन्न सो सभामा यायोक्खा यू के का विशेष सदश्यहरू श्री शंकर राइ, श्री रामधन राइ, श्री शिब राइ, डम्बर राइ, गजेन्द्र राइ, चन्द्र राइ लगायत यू के का विभिन्न ठाउँहरूबाट आएका किरात समाजका प्रतिनिधिहरू गरी करीब ३० जना सदश्यहरूको उपस्थिति रहेको थियो ।

वेलायतमा किराँत समुदायको एकता र सद्भाव कायम राख्दै किरात धर्म, भाषा तथा सँस्कृतिको संरक्षण तथा संवर्द्धन गर्ने उद्धेश्यले सन् २००३ मा स्थापित किराँत राइ यायेक्खा यू के ले स्थापना कालपर्यन्त गरेका उल्लेखनिय कार्य प्रगतिहरूको विवरण प्रस्तुत गर्दे यायोक्खा युके का वर्तमान उपाद्यक्ष रामधान राइले विभिन्न भाषाका किरातहरू अब एउटै शुत्रमा अघि वढ्न थालेको कुरा बताउनुभएको थियो भने सँस्थाका कोषाद्यक्षद्धय श्री डम्बर राइ र श्री चन्द्र राइले सँस्थाका आयब्ययको विबरण प्रस्तुत गर्नुका साथै किराँत राइ यायोक्खा नेपालले डेड करोडको लागतमा खरिद गर्न लागेको यायोक्खा भवनको निम्ति आर्थिक संकलनको विवरण पनि प्रस्तुत गर्नुभएको थियो ।

सँस्थाका सचिव श्री पदबहादुर राइले सन्चालन गर्नुभएको सो सभामा मुलरुपमा वेलायतमा रहेका तमाम किरातबन्धुहरूले आफ्नो सँस्कार र सँस्कृतिको संरक्षण र संवर्द्धनको गर्नको निम्ति स्थापित सँस्थालाई कसरी विकसित गर्दै लैजाने भन्ने विषयमा केन्द्रित रही छलफल भएको थियो ।
 

मध्यान्न १२ बजे देखि शुरुभएको सो सभामा सँस्थाका अन्य सदश्यहरू अजय राइ, प्रेम राइ, जय राइ, रामशेर राइ, सपन राइ लगायतका अन्य सदश्यहरूले आ­-आफ्नो धारण ब्यक्त गर्नुभएको थियो भने सँस्थाका अद्यक्ष श्री भीम राइले सँस्थागत एकताको अपरिहार्यतामा जोड दिदै देशको बहुसंख्यक आदीवासी जनजातीहरूले सयौँ वर्षेखि भोग्दै आएको सामाजिक तथा साँस्कृतिक थिचोमिचोलाई समाप्त गर्नको निम्ति वर्तमान राजनीतिक परिपेक्ष्यमा किरात राइ यायोक्खा र अन्य भात्रृ जनजाती सँस्थाहरूले पहल गरेको भूमिकालाई सुक्ष्म अवलोकन गरी आवश्यक सल्लाह, सुझाव र सहयोग गर्न कटिबद्ध हुनुपर्ने कुरा बताएउनु भयो ।

किराँत राइ यायोक्खा यू के को अर्को बृहत सम्मेलन २२ मार्च २००८ शनिवार हुने निर्णय साथ यस बर्षको बार्षिक साधारण सभा सभाद्यक्षद्धारा अपराहृन ४ बजे विर्सजन् भएको थियो ।
